GRIP YOUR INHERITANCE

Because of the cross we all belong. All of us. The entire human race. But we have to embrace this belonging to enjoy its fruits. This is the thing about our life in God. We must choose it. He will not make us have it.
FORGIVEN
We are all forgiven. We do not need to repent in order to be forgiven. Forgiveness is the status quo. The cross is forgiveness. The result of the cross is at-one-ment. It’s offered to all who will receive it. Repentance is what we do in response to our forgiveness, in response to its cost and the love of God revealed in the means of our at-one-ment. We are not forgiven according to the passion of our repentance. We are forgiven because God has forgiven us. We do well when we repent of self-salvation. Now we repent of our own way and turn to the new and living way.
YOU ARE ONE WITH GOD
The new and living way to participate in our life in God is through the interwoveness of our being with God’s being. Jesus pointed ahead to the result of the cross with the words, ‘On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you’ John 14.20. Clearly this union is effectively ours when we live in the realisation. What is this realisation? Simply choosing to understand and live in it.
In this season people are choosing their own truth. The futility of this is that any truth that is not Christ our life is a lie. Christ is our life efficaciously and meaningfully and transformingly.
BELONGING
Our inclusion in Christ belongs to us if we do not realise it and still belongs if we choose to ignore it. But for the oneness to be our possession in substance we must participate in it by saying ‘yes’ to Jesus invitation to ‘come to Him’. Don’t leave your treasure in the ground with the accusation, ‘You are a hard man’ meaning you think it’s too good to be true.
SPIRIT AND TRUTH
This is where ‘spirit and truth’ applies. We come to our Father in Jesus. This coming to our Father is a coming into the fullness of all that God is – the trinity. Not only do we enter the fellowship of the trinity. Our being blends with the being of God. C Baxter Kruger calls this perichoresis. It means the joining of two beings without either of them losing their identity and the identity of each being enhanced as a result. This is your life in Christ and why legalism is a lie and a non-life.
NO INSULATION
Our union with God is direct. We are joined by Jesus Christ and made one with our Father as a result. Should we employ extra-Jesus devices like the law as a whole or some ceremonial rite, we dim the effect of Jesus and insulate ourselves from union with the trinity by these efforts. This is a definite case where more of us is less of Him!
FREE GIFT OF YOU TO YOURSELF
The wonderful gift of the New Testament age is Christ in you and more: The trinity in you. If you believe you give God a face that looks like you! Richard Rohr asks, “Why do we have this gift and yet not realize it? Perhaps God does not want to force anything on us that we do not actually desire or choose for ourselves. So a lovely dance ensues between God and the soul that preserves freedom on both sides. The gift is objectively already within, and yet has to be desired and awakened by the person. But you never know that it is within until after it is awakened!” (1) Once you do you live a different life. The kind of life that’s called being born again.
